Fair Trade Certified™

The Fair Trade Certified™ label guarantees consumers that strict economic, social and environmental criteria were met in the production and trade of an agricultural product. TransFair USA, a non-profit organization, is one of 20 members of Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO), and the only third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in the United States.

Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International

Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO) is a non-profit, multi-stakeholder association involving 23 member organizations (Labelling Initiatives and Producer Networks), traders and external experts. The organization develops and reviews Fair Trade standards and provides support to Fair Trade Certified producers by assisting them in gaining and maintaining Fair Trade Certification and capitalizing on market opportunities.

USDA Organic Certified

USDA Organic Certification from the United States Department of Agriculture provides assurance that Café Bom Dia's coffee has been produced without the use of synthetic pesticides or other chemicals for crop production, and that products are grown using farming practices that reduce erosion, improve soil fertility, protect groundwater and conserve biological diversity.

BCS

BCS Oko certifies that Café Bom Dia's organic coffees meet standards set by the Council of the EU on organic production and labeling. In addition to strict prohibitions on pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals, the EU organic labeling standard specifically prohibits the use of ionising radiation and genetically modified organisms.

Organic JAS Seal

The Japanese Agricultural Standard (PDF, 30kb) of Organic Products mark certifies that Café Bom Dia coffees meet standards set by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. JAS specifically prohibits agricultural chemicals and fertilizers for at least two years before sowing or planting and prohibits the use of recombinant DNA technology.

Rainforest Alliance Certified

Awarded to sustainably managed farms that meet a set of environmental, social and economic standards including consideration of ecosystems, water and soil conservation, wildlife protection, fair wages and medical care for workers, and education for employees' children.

UTZ Certified

Involves meeting defined standards on responsible use of agricultural chemicals, protection of labor rights, access to healthcare and education for workers and their families, and protection of natural vegetation and wildlife.

Swiss Water

Café Bom Dia works with the Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company to naturally decaffeinate our gourmet beans. Certified organic by the USDA, the chemical-free Swiss Water® Process uses only pure, fresh water to draw caffeine away from the coffee bean.
